Pippa's RI Moment: Not Especially Attentive, but Eternally Changed
RI Coordinator, Trainer & Volunteer Instructor at Brightwater, Palmwoods & Nambour State Schools. Relief Teacher (Dept of Education). Mainly Music Coordinator.

Pippa came to faith as a direct result of Scripture teachers bringing the gospel into her local school. Though she recalls not being especially attentive in class, one simple truth about prayer caught her attention. Curious, she began talking to God during her walks home from school—starting a conversation that would last a lifetime. Soon after, Pippa began attending a local church and was surprised to discover that her Scripture teachers were part of the same congregation. A special bond formed between them, and these men and women continued to speak into her life, encouraging her faith journey through her growing years and into adulthood. They witnessed her baptism as a teenager and, years later, celebrated with her at her wedding. Today, Pippa’s involvement in RI is a direct reflection of her own story—one shaped by the faithful witness of men and women who moved out of their comfort zones and entered her world to share the Greatest Story Ever Told. Pippa now carries that legacy forward, planting seeds in the hearts of children just as others once did for her.

Aaron - His Mother's RI Journey Sparked a Legacy of Faith
Tradie

During a dark season in her twenties, Aaron's mother remembered the RI lessons she'd received at school. This led to her calling out to God in desperation and walking into a church where she found salvation. She began taking Aaron to church as a young boy; the stories he heard planting seeds of truth in his heart. As a teenager, Aaron drifted away from church, choosing his own path. But when lifestyle choices began eroding his peace and sense of direction, history repeated itself. Just like his mother, Aaron reached out to God and found the same saving grace. He committed his life to Christ, beginning a journey of faith that was anything but linear - marked by false starts, failures and questions. Yet every time he turned back to God, he found forgiveness, mercy and that peach that surpasses all understanding. In May 2025, Aaron shared his and his mother's testimonies at a pastors' breakfast hosted by CREPSC. He spoke candidly about the ups and downs of his spiritual walk, and how each return to God deepened his understanding and strengthened his faith. Recognising that his mother's legacy of faith began with RI, he put up his hand to be trained to share his faith with confidence - to plant seeds in the hearts of youth in his community, who were like him.

Connor - "It was through RI that my vision of God was shaped and my world was changed"
Church Youth Pastor & IT Service Lead

When Connor’s family relocated from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast, he began attending Currimundi State School. It was there that he met his RI teacher—Nicky Ross, founder of CREPSC—whose lessons were not only fun but also thought-provoking. Her engaging style made it easy for Connor to listen and absorb the deeper truths being shared. Despite the challenges of fitting in at a new school, Connor’s path took an unexpected turn when he secured an internship. His boss, a Christian businessman whose brother was a pastor, became a mentor and spiritual guide. Through this relationship, Connor was invited to church, where he attended an Amplified Youth event. It was during worship that Connor encountered God in a real and profound way. Church became a place of discovery, where the seeds planted in RI began to grow. As Connor’s faith deepened, so did his involvement—eventually leading him to intern at the church and return to Currimundi State School, this time as an RI teacher himself. 10 years on, Connor is a Church Youth Pastor. He believes his RI journey is summed up in the scripture in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow."

Insights from a professional educator
RI Volunteer & Coordinator

A Year 4 student from a Christian school where I do teacher relief work, had moved to the state school where I teach RI. He ended up in my class. He was so delighted to see me face. Oh it's you! Yusi! *fist pump*. My new student is really excited about RI. His enthusiasm gives extra life to my RI class. He is eager to help his new classmates understand the bible knowledge he has from his Christian school. Students listen to other students - it makes it all seem relevant to their generation. I think we will see more of this during· this economic downturn - Christian parents bringing their children out of the more expensive private schools to ease the financial burden on their families. When these students come into state schools they are so pleased to find their peers gathering to learn what is important to their family. RI gives them social kudos in a secular school. This is important for our pastors to realise they are feeding· their own flocks - by ensuring RI programs in their local schools are robust. The children in their church g-et to have support for their faith during their week in a state school! They learn how to advocate for themselves, be proud of their faith, and communicate what they believe with confidence and with the respect of their peers. Surely this is what every pastor wants for the children in their church!
