Class sets

The Bible is an approved resource within the Christian RI curriculum. 

The Bible Society has donated class sets of CEV Big Rescue and Youth Bibles for this purpose, contingent upon our agreement to only distribute Bibles for use as curriculum class sets, and not as gifts. This is our agreed policy. 

Instructors may collect as many Bibles as children in their class if they do not have Bibles to reference during lessons. 
There are two collection points:

GIFTS

In distributing Bibles to children, especially those unfamiliar with Christian teachings, care must be taken to ensure content is age-appropriate and contextually accessible. The inclusion of Old Testament scriptures - originally intended for religious leaders and steeped in historical and theological nuance - can be confusing or confronting for unchurched families. 

To avoid misunderstandings and potential objections from educational settings, it's important to consider alternative approaches that introduce biblical content with appropriate guidance and sensitivity.  
If you would like to give away a Bible as a gift, the Gideon pocket-sized New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs with Jesus' words in red, is an ideal Bible for this purpose. We have secured a small quantity for gifting to Year 6s at the end of their last year of RI. If you would like to obtain some of these for your students, please:

  • advise CREP-SC of the number you expect to need at least 4 weeks in advance of the date of distribution
  • send home a Bible Permission Slip for parents to sign
  • insert a disclaimer in the front of each Bible before they are given out

Please note, any assistance your church may be able to give to help us afford the purchase cost ($2.25 each) would be gratefully accepted.
